Explore the scenic beauty, diverse topography and history of St. Kitts during this picturesque comprehensive tour of the Island.
Depart from your pick up destination with your guide for the drive through Calypso Bay Resort and capture the sister Island Nevis in backdrop and the panoramic views of the Capital Basseterre and then drive through Bird Rock and onto historic Basseterre, the Eastern Caribbean’s oldest town. Here, the elements of French and British colonization have been carefully preserved. Along the way you will see Berkeley Memorial, the former slave market of the Independence Square, and the impressive architecture of the buildings surrounding it. Your route takes you to the pastoral valleys and endless fields of sugar cane. Along the way we will pass the following-: War Memorial, Fort lands Area, Ocean Terrace Inn, and Medical University of Health Sciences of Americas, J.N. France General Hospital, the St. Kitts Bottling Company Ltd, and the St. Kitts Caribbean Cinema. Along the island main road about one (1) mile from the city, you will capture photos of some nesting egrets, then drive by Ross University of Nursing and Health Sciences, followed by the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Our first stop will be at Bloody Point River. In 1626 the French and British fought the Caribs, Indians and the river flowed red from the bloodshed. Your guide leads you to Old Road Town on an exhilarating 20 minutes walk along the pleasant river trail into the cool tropical rainforest and up a river valley, providing commentary on the native flora and fauna. The forest is pest free of bugs and mosquitoes.
From here, you will continue on to Caribelle Batik to observe local artists transform Sea Island cotton into stunning Batik Fabrics, and learn about the secrets of this ancient form. Afterwards, you will proceed to Romney Manor, originally owned by the great- grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, the Third U. S President nestled amidst expansive and meticulously maintained grounds, this twelve (12) acre botanical paradise is truly a wonder to behold. During your visit, you will take in spectacular views and photo opportunities of tropical blooms, exotic palms, flowering shrubs and delicate orchids and observe the hummingbirds, egrets and green vervet monkeys.
After thirty (30) minutes duration you will drive by the village of Middle Island to view the first Anglican Church that was built in the Eastern Caribbean .Next your Scenic Island drive will pass by World-renowned Brimstone Hill Fortress. The Tour will drive through St .Paul’s Village where our Honourable Prime Minister's home is located and the impoverish surroundings. A stop will be made at Gibbon’s Hill for spectacular views and photo opportunities overlooking the area where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea in a crash of waves. Your drive will then proceed to Black Rocks for refreshments and photo stop, and continue on the Kim Collins Highway to Frigate Bay Surroundings. You will drive by an eighteen (18) hole golf course and stately homes on the slopes of the majestic hills in the backgrounds. Your tour will conclude with a stop at the top of Timothy Hill for breathtaking vista of the Frigate Bay Resort Area. You will see long stretches of golden sandy beaches, foaming crest of the Atlantic waves to the North, and the tranquil Caribbean Sea to the south.
